I bought the Linksys N900/E4200 last month and by the end of the month returned it and bought the Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G again. The N900 had issues with staying connected with printers and computers. Speed was not any better that I could tell. The Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G router is simple and stable. Update: Sep 19, 2015.

So I try real friendly to ask the following two questions: 1. Can I use VPN on my WRT54G2, that is already running DDWRT, but probably not the right one. 2. The brand new WRT54G2 operated fine for about 24 hours, then it would drop the Wifi connections, Internet speed dropped to 1/4 the usual and I'd see excessive jitter (see pingtest.net). Linksys/Cisco tech support had me go through a number of ritual resets and config changes to no avail. After a few days, they said send the unit back as defective. I have a Linksys WRT54GL which was flashed with the standard DD-WRT version for it and then was flashed again with the VPN version of DD-WRT. I recently subscribed to Private Internet Access VPN and have no problems running it on my laptop (my IP is changed as it should be, my location is changed as it should be, and my Internet speed is great).
