Norton support connected to my MAC to investigate.They then asked me to delete the firewall entries for Word, Excel etc. and to reboot the system. After that I had to re-enter and allow these and reboot the system again. That solved the problem. Norton doesn't annoy me anymore for authorisation of these 'allowed' applications. HOWEVER!
